Topic of the day

λ - Lambda 1/2

There's no place I'd rather be!
What means λ/2? Definition, derived from Wikipedia: The small Greek letter Lambda represents relation between the wavelength of a transmitted radiowave and the length of the transmitting antenna. Lambda/2 means that the transmitting antenna has half the length of the period of the transmitted radiowave. Since I passed half of my life I feel like this antenna: A lot of things to do, to transmit and not enough time to do so.

Why did I spend the time and the efford to create this Web?

This is an everlasting question.

The answer is not easy, why do people spend time to create a web and to show contents, however I do it, because it is one way to express myself, to tell the world what I am thinking about things and who I am.

Who am I or whoami? An simple answer in a UNIX system: The Status you have right now and here. In real life? I am an Engineer, with more than 40 years experience in all kind of electric and electronic areas as well as coding, development of hardware, software, quality management concerning all facettes in development and on production side. This is a very unique mix which is not very high in demand nowadways. Todays world needs ready made specialists - focussing, better: conditioned to focus in one direction or onto one point only. That might be nice working for many companies, but it doesn't work for me - I need the flexibility and the wide spread of requirements to challenge myself every day. Always something new. The day, I have to repeat a task multiple times, I get bored and I look around for somethng new or more challenging.

Right now, I am active in ERP - Software business - a challenging beginning unfortunately slowed down a lot by this CoVID19 pandemic. Many clients, Resorts, Hotels etc. just vanished form the scene because of no business. The clients, who had at least a little business do not face problems so that there is not a high demand for quality support. I am sure it will change soon, since the vaccinations are rolled out worldwide and the markets will recover.

About me - I like challenges - not in a form of martial arts, nor in a form of discussions - more in a form of - developing something useful for my friends or myself. Currently I play with my second love: The Raspberry-Pi. That small machine, with the full power of Linux™ is a wonderland. I created different kind of clocks, displays and other appliances to make my private IoT come true. When it comes to displays, I truly appreciate the work of the developer of the LUMA libraries Richard Hull, the WiringPI developer and maintainer Gordon Henderson (Drogon) and surely Linus Torvalds who truly inspired me, from the day, he posted the very first version of Linux™ into the all learning and all knowing internet.

My last web was created in PHP using special functions to build up a framework which could finally be filled with data coming from a single textfile. I thought that is a good way to implement what I wanted to say and to maintain it in a very elegant structure.

What is the difference to this web? The development of all kind of programming languages and techniques is going so fast, it is nearly not possible to catch up with that kind of speed, unless you are focussing on a single task only. I can‘t and I don‘t want to focus on a single thing. Out of this personal challenge, I decided to renew my web. Here we go: Anything you see here is new - created, typing every little token or command manually. Why do I do this? Why do I spend so much time to type all the data and information into a file? The challenge is to understand and to manage the code in full - not using a pre-generated page or framework, were the user does not know, what happens in the backrgound; for example: Who, beside me is gathering information generated on my web? Who else is monitoring my activities? How much information can be drawn from here by WebBots and other Data collection software?

Since 2020 we see a incredibly increasing number of software which infiltrates systems using intelligent ways to access! Is it not time to fall back to the basics and to gain back control? Operating systems are getting more and more complex, the attached software too, users are offered many simplified, easy to access generator of websites, but what is the price many websites have to pay?

DDoS attacks and other injections are reported on a daily base. No, Sirs, I want to be in control, as much as I can.

I want to thank my wife, she gave me the opportunity to re-create my web, and without any hesitation she granted me the time to get anything you can see here re-generated and re-newed.Thank you Melissa.
